Hi, My mover has stopped working on my caravan, the caravan battery was fully charged but when I switched on the remote the batteries in it were dead & had started to corrode the contacts. I replaced the batteries & although it seemed to connect the rollers wouldn't move. Could the corrosion cause the problem.

The short answer to your question is yes.Corrosion creeps anywhere on circuit boards and is the most likeliest cause if it has got into the small switches under the push buttons.

To late now for the OP but batteries should always be removed from anything,if not being used for a while.

Agreed, the same goes for your TV, DVD and Freesat/view remotes too, always remove the batteries when laying up the van for the winter.

All is not lost tho' if the contacts are beyond repair (and I'm not sure which battery type it relates to) Maplin's do replacements for most types.

I'm an ex TV engineer and we used to fix most remote control units that had some kind of liquid ingress by dismantelling them and scrubbing them clean with warm soap & water, a good rinse and blow-dry usually did the trick. Cola drinks were the worst because of the phosphoric acid in them, that would eat the copper track away. Worth a try so good luck.
