Needed to fit a door retainer/catch there was an old one was broken on the side of the caravan but then nothing on the door, I fitted the female part that screwed into a wooden beam on the side of the caravan then lined the male part up to the door, drilled 2 holes but it’s just metal so I two holes and nothing to screw into !! only option I can think of is gluing it on !!

I would have thought that there would be quite a lot of stress on the catch and I doubt that glue would hold it.
If you have already drilled the holes, is the metal strong enough to take self tapping screws?
Alternatively, could you drill right through the door and use longer bolts with a small plate on the inside?

Thanks, the plate might work, thinking about if I brought another one I could use the male part as the plate and gain an extra hook

what about using plaster board screws? you know the ones that spring open once you put thr the hole then you just tighten up
