Some caravans are incompatable. With hitch damper fully in, Alko handle can hit handbrake lever which lifts handle. All you can do is offer hitch up with damper fully compressed and check.
It can be as close as you like as long as it don't hit handbrake. It has been said you can bend handbrake lever to clear it but it sounds like a bodge to me. I can see little point in upgrading though. A stabiliser hitch is not meant to fix an unstable caravan, you have to load it properly to do that. If current hitch is in good repair then stick with that. It will be as effective as any other.

the dealer i have baught if from is swapping it for a winterhoff hitch as the hitch that is on requires a lot of work to get it to standard it needs pads new handle and new staibliser handle
