Evening all, complete newbie here so be gentle :-)
Got a 2005 CRV 2.2HDi and the first time we've tried to use the towbar electrics the car beep registers the right hand indicator is on but it doesn't light. Caravan is fine when hooked to another car and the car indicators work fine. I've taken off the socket and used a testlamp to check behind the connections and the same result. Bulb doesn't light but the beep is there. Any ideas peeps.

If you put a meter on the car socket pin for the winker and the other probe to earth and actuate winker do you get any voltage. If not the the feed either has leak to earth or the towing wiring bypass module is the fault.

There is a voltage......around 6v which I thought low, then I tried the left, which lights, and it was the same volts out. Would the module be in the back of the car?

Sorted it. The towbar electrics were spliced badly in the rear left of the car behind the panel. The little audible monitor box was blown. Replaced and tidied up the splices......result

Glad you got it sorted Tony. Good connections are an absolute must otherwise they may let you down on some dark rainy night.

When I got the electrics done on the Jeep last month I asked the leccy to solder the connections and no...NO scotchlocks ...or else no pay bill! He moaned a bit but did it. Mind you, how good's his soldering?

A decent wiring kit uses neither scotchloks nor soldering, but simply plugs into the existing wiring loom.

I'd have also wanted to see how he insulated the soldered joins, wrapping a bit of tape round them is no long term solution - they need heat shrink insulation.
