Hi All!
I am new to the caravan scene and recently purchased a 1995 Swift Challenger 500SE.
I installed a new leisure battery as I wasn't sure of the old one. Went on our first trip at Easter, got to site and go onto the EHU.
By the next day the battery was in the red and there wasn't enough juice to run the fanmaster or other 12V stuff.
Checked all the cables, rewired them to be sure etc etc.
Got home, changed the cable, charged the battery plugged into the electrics at home - same problem!!
I've located the fuse for the charger and its not blown but have replaced it anyway - WHERE IS THE ACTUAL CHARGER ITSELF??? Please help as I'm going mad!!

Hi i am not familiar with your caravan and age, but the charger is sometimes built into the fuseboard and is all one unit.It looks like a transformer and usualy run quite warm.Have you checked to make sure the fridge is not switched on to battery because that will flatten the battery in no time.
The lights ect should still work of the charger supply even if the battery is flat.I owned a folding camper for a few years and ran the 12v lights and pump off the charger cicuit and did not have a liesure battery
hope this helps GCB

I've taken the front plate off the distribution panel & need to pull out the mains & 12v DC controls .. Surely it's not behind all that??

Your charger will probably be built into your power unit. Sounds very much like the problem. Fridges only work from the car on battery not the on board leisure battery.

I take it you have a rocker switch that says "Car/Van".
Once your hooked up to the mains this switch should be set to "VAN"..

Other than that your charger might be below a seat.Keep us informed of what your doing, any probs get back to the site.
