I'm new to this site (stumbled across it by lucky accident!) but very much hope someone can help out.
We only bought our caravan last August (ABI Jubilee Courier - 1998), and had a couple of successful outings in it before the end of the year. We took it out last weekend for the first trip this year, but when we arrived on site could not get the tap in the kitchen to work. We didn't think this to be too much of a problem as we'd get it repaired when we got back this week, but on Saturday night the waste from the sink in the bathroom started to leak all over the floor!
Does anyone know if this is because of something we did or didn't do after it going into or coming out of storage or is it just an age problem? Also, are the two things going wrong just a coincidence or are they linked? I vaguely remember the guy we brought if off saying something about the taps, but can't remember now if he actually did or it's my pregnancy hormones playing up again!!
Hi chipie dont worry its just wear and tear, the waste pipe and the tap just pure coincidence. We have had a few probs with taps on our van just a year old
Greetings Chipie, dont worry, as long as it dosnt happen all the time after being fixed, it should be O.K., this happened to us with a brand new van, the first week the pipe to the taps came off and flooded the bathroom and the next time after repair, the pipe came off the sink, so not only did I wash my boat- race, but my feet as well, but hey, a good time was had by all, good luck with the expected new caravanner S/C
Hi Chipie , welcome to UKCS , you'll probably find that the kitchen sink tap has a faulty micro-switch , and the bathroom waste pipe has either come off it's fitting or the waste pipe has a blockage .
Wouldn't have thought that they are related though .
our water pipe came off the kitchen tap too.my son was in there and came out to tell us there was smoke coming from the fridge.the water had leaked all over the fridge motor-we were very lucky it happened when we were there.no damage was done to the fridge i think they are insulated for just such a thing.had to sit with hairdrier for a while though.
my brother in law fixed it.just fiddly but not a problem
just had my van in for a service and found out that the tap needed a new micro switch and some new internal parts as well, they did a good job as well, didn,t have to pay for labour just the parts............job well done..............good luck with yours..........
