Hi am new to camping, and am storing my caravan in a compound, my battery has been charged, the main master switch by the door, if I switch all them off will that stop my battery from draining? Even if switches where left in the on position

Batteries will discharge to some extent when not in use. Even if all appliances switched off and no power being drawn. Some people charge after every time out, others every couple of months. If you aren't using hook ups when using its best to charge fully after returning home and then periodically check the state of your battery.Batteries

Thank you Geoff, we will be using electrics on campsites, while the caravan is in storage would you remove the battery so can charge at home or leave it in its place? Does the alarm need the battery for it to work

turning the master switch off doesn't turn off the blower for the fire or the status power supply often not even the radio.......depending on what caravan you have.

So best going round switching everything off 1st then master switch on way out, when leaving it in compound, do you know if alarm runs off that Battery or does it have its own battery

Master switch is usually just to isolate mover. If caravan is in storage over winter then bring battery home with you & charge once a month to preserve it.

The alarm will only detect a unauthorised presence, if your storage is unguarded or remote it might deter a thief but won't necessarily stop one. Other security products, hitch-locks, wheel locks, locking wheel nuts, corner steady locks are available which also offer some protection. The alarm systems I know run of the caravan battery. Hope this helps.

Stick a 100amp solar panel on the roof and hook up to your battery through a regulator my battery always reads 12.5 to 13volts whether the sun shines or not
