Hi,

I have a Carver 2000 Heater and a RM 4206 Fridge.

They are both gas powered.

I can't get either of them to light. I definitely have gas because the gas hobs and grill work fine.

I wonder if it's something to do with the ignition buttons on both of them. Any help or advice appreciated. I'm new to caravanning!

For what it's worth, this caravan has been stood for two years. And it's quite old, 1995 Lunar 2-berth.

I followed the instruction manual for the fridge, and identified that when I turn on the electric igniter, there is no ticking sound, and there is no light flashing. Maybe the igniter has no power?

Thank you,
J

Has it been serviced?
Have you just bought it? If so would be worth getting it serviced. Might be they were turned off for a reason the seller never mentioned.
As for home appliances they will have their own cut off valves. If they are turned off and the hob was turned on, then that might make you wonder.

I've edited my post just now to include more information.
To answer your question however, i bought the caravan three years ago and the fridge worked fine with gas. I never got the heater to work.

I'll have a look around to see if there are any other valves preventing these appliances from getting gas.

As per my edit above though, it looks like the electric ignition on the fridge should tick and a light should flash when it's on, it does nothing.

Thanks for the reply.

OK it turns out there's a fuse switch under the sofa for the heater. Got it lit! :)

As for the fridge, mystery still not solved. Looks like there's no power to the electric ignition.

Nothing feels better than fixing your van yourself after a wee mess around. Keep in mind don't search for gas problems with a naked flame
Well done you.
