Will do mate thanks for the advice how much do you think I should expect to pay for the plywood sheets? And yes not looking forward to the rail on the roof mate but still has to be done, I think I have a plan anyway but see what happens my way of thinking are the moment is if I've got a bare shell to work with and I fetch a load of rotten wood out replace with some new wood and build off that I can't really do any harm only improve on what I started out with, well that's my way of thinking anyway and I think the more you do the more you motivate yourself to do some more and if you got something in your mind of what you want to end up with it helps you carry on too right. Well I hope so anyway still iam excited to get started thanks mark

I think you can get the sheets for £10 - £15 but you can't go too big or you won't get them in the door of the van. I use a local diy shop and they will cut it to size for me at no extra cost which is great as I'm no craftsman lol! I work at a desk all day and have limited tools so if I can do it anyone can - it just requires a bit of logic and lots of patience!

Thanks a lot for that mate I've got plenty of tools luckily, do lots of odd jobs here and there never done this before but as you say can't be to much to it and can't hurt anything for trying and in the end may even have a half decent dry van that hopefully can enjoy lol

Hi Galwaybiker,

Unfortunately we had a sudden and unexpected family bereavement last year so our project came to a standstill. I was going to get stuck back into it but I thought life’s too short and at the rate I was going the kids would have grown up before we had chance to use it lol! I passed the half finished job onto someone else with the vision to finish it and I bought myself a fully functional Fleetwood Heritage. It wasn’t a total waste of time though, I’ve learned all sorts and I wouldn’t hesitate to take on any repairs on the Fleetwood. It’s turned out ok though, we’ve had loads of great holidays. The new van is like a rolling house so it’s great for when we have guests staying over too lol!

Thanks for asking though,
Gareth

Hi Gareth.
Sorry to hear about that. Thanks for posting the work that you did do. It's given me encouragement to start my own soggy caravan.

No probs, if you have the time and the patience it can be very rewarding! Some of the rebuilds that gave me inspiration were amazing! Good luck with your project, you’ll get loads of help and support on this site 👍🏻
