Hi everyone, Thank you for reading this thread....

I have just tried my water heater ready for the new season and unfortunately I have hit a problem with 240v side of the water heater.....

the water gets hot as it should, but after I fill the sink with hot water, it starts to run cold, I know this isn't right because, in the past the water has ALWAYS remained hot and I have used our shower and the water remained hot throughout. If I leave the water alone, after a while it gets hot again. I'm thinking it's something to do with the thermostat. does anyone have any Ideas

Regards Frank

If you have drained it down and the problem is only happening as you first fill it after drain down you might just have an airlock somewhere that is preventing the heater from completely filling. Before you do anything else I would suggest you drain down the system and immediately refill to see it that cures any air locks.

Hi David, I did as you suggested and drained down the hot water system a re-filled it, There is definitely no air locks but the problem is still persisting.
I thank you for your reply.

Hi Shrew, Now you suggested a new element, is this your thinking....because the element is on the way out, it's taking longer than it should do to heat up. So it's dying but not dead yet. I know my element is 450watt, can I swap it for a 850watt?
As with David, I thank you for your reply

Kind regards and thanks to you both

Have you left it long enough to heat the whole tank up. 450watt is not very much and will take a while. I would suggest leaving it for 2 or 3 hours then try.
