When I use the hot water in my caravan I get a residue of fine black particles. It can't be the filter because I've replaced that and it doesn't happen when I just use cold water. I've flushed the system but the problem persists. Is there corrosion in the water heater. Any ideas.

Hi, what type of water filter have you used, it sounds like charcoal particles. For instance if you replace a crystal system cartridge water initially runs quite black. If you do this replacement after having system drained down for winter the black particles can run into hot water tank.

Hi Albee,
As I said, I only get the residue on the hot water side of the system, the cold water side is clear. If it was the filter then surely I would get the residue on the cold water side as well.
                 Regards,
                      Clive.

Clive, you could be correct however the carbon from the filter could have initially gone into the hot water tank en masse being that the first water into the caravan is into the hot water tank, hence you get it thru the taps. A good flush should cure the problem. Hope this helps.
PS on my filter it states it should be flushed through at least three times to get rid of loose carbon particles

Ok, thanks Kenny, I'll give that a try. It's not that much of a problem but I would like to get it sorted. Hopefully its just the carbon and not corrosion.Appreciate your suggestion.
             Regards
               Clive
