Hello again everyone. Been away a while. Need some help.moved caravan the other day using evo power touch mover. First time this year. All went well to start then mover stopped. Turned red key and off it went again for about 5 second's. Repeated red key reset and tried again. Away it went for 5 seconds. Seems to run OK using 1 motor at a time ,but when when I engage both motors to travel in a straight line it quits after about 5 seconds.any help would be greatly appreciated. I changed handset battery and main battery seems well charged.

When you say that the main battery SEEMS well charged, have you actually checked the leisure battery voltage with a voltmeter or just going by the onboard battery condition gauge?
The problem sounds very much like low battery voltage thus the reason for activating for just a few seconds then coming to a halt.

sorry. didnt use volt meter. used battery/alternator meter. doesnt show volts just diffirent coloured lights to indicate battery state .

I have one of those battery/alternator meters but they are used mainly for vehicles as the battery in a vehicle is a shallow cycle battery whereas a leisure battery is a deep cycle battery therefore constructed differently. For less than a tenner I would advise to invest in a proper voltemeter because if you call out a Powrtouch engineer they will charge £75 if the problem is found to be battery related.

ok thankyou. will do. i have a volt meter in shed. the fact the van moved initially for around 10 meters on 50mm red chips makes me start to think battery.

before i go . is there a user troubleshoot manual for the evoloution powertouch mover. as the mover was on van when i bought it. but no instruction manual.??

you’re caravan battery most be fully charged for the evo mover to work ,anything less than 13.5 volts and the mover won’t work

that's the problem it is working. but intermittently. starts then stops . I will re check battery ,

Below is a link for the Powrtouch fault finder which states that the battery MUST be fully charged. That means you need to conduct a test with a voltmeter to determine what voltage remains in the battery. If it's not fully charged then you will most likely receive an intermittent fault because the battery is too weak to operate the rollers effectively.
Talking previously to a Powrtouch engineer 2 years ago he said that 75% of call outs are battery related so it's best to conduct your own test first to confirm the findings.

after a short time the battery suffers a voltage and the mover stops..

give it short rest and it starts and then stops again..

the battery is not up to the job.. time for a new one i think..

the comment about the battery needing to be 13.5 volts is wrong.. but it does need to be up to the job.. your battery isnt..

a good battery should run a mover for at least an hour not a few minutes.. your battery sounds like its worn out..

Hi, to confirm remove battery and take to local garage and have it tested, they can use a discharge tester which tests cells under load. It's the sort of fault you get when car battery fails on first frosty morning.

it will tell you if a battery is totally knackered but thats about all..

folks dont seem to be aware of it but batteries wear out..

they lose capacity with use and time.. they might start off at 100 amph but that drops off to 90 80 70 60 50 40 30 until a point is reached when the battery fails to do what its intended to do..

that can be start a car or power a mover.. most people run batteries for far longer than they really should do..
