Good morning. My first caravan and straight into my first question! I have just bought a 2004 Chateau 400 and need to change the tyres. I have sourced the tyres but I am in a quandary about jacking points. Everything seems to say jack where the axle joins the frame is that correct? Also dropping the spare, it's on a single bar that runs the width of the 'van, how does that drop? I have tried searching but cannot get any clear information and the handbook is very vague about the whole puncture/spare wheel issue. Many thanks for any help on this.

Jack it with a bottle jack under the thick metal that holds axle to chassis. I got a bottle jack from Screwfix. Not expensive & keep it with caravan. You should have some wood to put under it. If you get a flat tyre then tow caravan up a levelling ramp to get the jack under.

If spare wheel carrier is Alko type then after removing retainer it should slide out but these carriers can be awkward to use. The tubes need greasing & often this is not done which causes them to seize up as yours may have.
