Hi all   I have to change the gas locker strut on my sons Ace supreme globestar 2006 which has only one centre strut.
I can't seem to locate an original part so will have to use a generic one.
Does anyone know the appropriate lift force for such a thing as they vary from 150N to 800N
I have the dimensions but not the force and it is not on the old strut
I really only want a ballpark figure as I need it to lift but not to break his nose   preferably anyway
He has been using the clothes peg technique on the ram but even that doesn't work now

thanks in anticipation

Have you tried sgs engineering? They do a huge range and can make adjustable units, they have a very informative website.

SGS Engineering can also refurbish your original one for you. Give them a ring.

I used this company for a locker strut on my Ace Celebration. Excellent service and good price. All info should be on original strut in nm.Speak to them as they know the answers.

I've just had a nightmare getting some faulty struts sorted with them, with hind sight I'd sooner pay a few £s more and get genuine ones

If Powrtouch made struts they would be my first choice, they have after service that's second to non.

As a word of advice, if there are 2 active struts then you will need to replace the pair which applies to any other application too as one will always be weaker than the other. I already knew this but just purchased the one hoping to save money but when I fitted the new gas strut I had exactly the same problem but the opposite way round so ended up having to replace the second one as well which cost me double the P&P costs in the end.

I have just re-read your original post and you clearly stated that there is only one strut you need to replace so please disregard my above post with reference to two struts.

Well, gas strut has arrived and seems ok but I will know for sure when I get chance to go to my sons van which is in storage. I may even leave it until after Christmas when he puts it next to mine on our drive along with his annual long list of minor repairs and maintenance that he seems to think that I delight in.
