Any ideas please? Don't actually need it to, but we had a power cut so tried it.

When you say not working with gas, you need to be a bit more specific. Is there no gas coming through the pipes, no spark at all or is there is a spark which ignites the gas but not staying lit after the 15 seconds of holding in the thermostat?

No spark, assume there is a valve of some sort but don't know where.

Chances are that if you have not used the fridge on gas for some time some debris/scale has detached in the flue and fallen down onto the ignition point .
If so it’s an easy fix. All you need is a Philips / cross point screwdriver.
Take off lower fridge vent from outside. Loosen screw holding small metal box surrounding burner in bottom of the flue. Slide box off locator. Another screw holds burner into flue remove that and ease burner down out of flue. Clean off said debris/scale. With gas turned off. Turn knob on to ignite. Spark should now be evident.
Refix all in reverse order.
If now working give yourself a pat on the back.👍

My Dometic 3 way fridge has a small battery inside the press button ignition system, if this is flat you will get no spark, I think it’s AA type
It’s easy to change there are details in the instruction manual or look on utube

The ignition on my Dometic fridge comes from the leisure battery (no independent fridge battery) so you need to check that you have a fully charged leisure battery connected up just in case the fridge ignition is reliant on the leisure battery. I say fully charged because a partly charged battery will produce a weak spark which again can cause ignition failure. Also, if you have never used the fridge on gas before there will definitely be air in the gas line which needs to be expelled. The way to do that is to light one of the gas rings first to draw gas through then keep trying to operate the fridge ignition button till it lights. I doubt whether it is something complex because when you had the caravan serviced, the engineer should have fully tested the fridge to identify any faults.

Hi, we use gas to cool the fridge quickly when we first arrive ar site as dont store van at home and have ability to use EHU before journey. We have found that fridge will not ignite unless we have ignited a gas burner on stove first. Assume its air in the pipes. Could this be the same issue?

Hi, i would suggest getting it looked at by an engineer, we use a guy in Hampshire - Depending on where you're located, could try Tow-Tech (http://www.tow-tech.co.uk) as they are MCEA certified and very knowledgeable!

Mrs Bonce, if you need/want a mobile engineer for your area to look at your fridge, I used this chap for my last service, absolutely brilliant, well trained and very knowledgeable in all the equipment, and reasonably priced, it seems all his customers rate him highly and he does a lot of work at the site my van is stored.

New to this website, and apologies if I’m posting this in the incorrect place. I have a Dometic 3 way fridge in my camper (2007) that works on battery and mains but not on gas. Checked igniter and flame both are working normal. Checked the flue and it’s clear. I’m not familiar with 3 way fridges, so any help would be very much appreciated.
