Hello, although not new to camping, as we have a Folding camper, we now have a caravan too. Just had it’s first service with us, and we are told the sealant on the outside is leaking. The damp reading was fairly high. My question please, is which sealant do we use, to replace it, is it a job we can do ourselves or does it need doing by a professional? Thank you in advance. (I have searched for this topic, on here, but nothing came up.) 😊

Thank you Oxter. Just had a quick look on Wizard. Haven’t heard of it before, but think we will find the answer.
Any other help gratefully received too. 😊

Click on Caravan Resealing then awning rail.

I used the mastic seals which come in long rolls of different widths. Perhaps add more sealant at bends in the rail where you have to stretch the mastic. Two person job to present the rail complete with new seal back to caravan. It sticks where it touches! DIY will save you a fortune. If you have stainless screws, then reuse them. If not, replace with SS screws. If the wood underneath is rotten, the screws will not take a hold!

Area needs to be dried thoroughly prior to sealing otherwise you are sealing in the damp which will cause further problems.
