Just bought my first caravan Abby gets 416
Plugged it in and everythigg no was working fine yesterday but the battery was not working or charging. Found a plug that was undone behind the seat so plugged it in as you do ,
Now the battery is charging but my hook up has stopped and I can’t get the oven or anything to work either :/ any ideas?
How do you know that the charger is actually working?
If the hook up stopped then it won't be functioning due to the fact that there is no electrical current to it.
Even on the hook up it’s only half way on the meter I have power coming in I have checked that but nothing is working and checked all fuses the battery was not connected correctly under the seat so I plugged it in and lost all power :( I have unplugged it and still can’t get power I only have lights
It was working until I connected the battery in the van :( now I have nothing but lights just unplugged hook up and lost lights to is this something silly I could have done ?
As Tango says, the charger cannot possibly be working if the hook-up isn't. The hook-up powers it.
Unless you have an electric oven the problem with that is unrelated, unless you mean the igniter won't work. I don't know whether your caravan has an electric igniter though, not all of them have.
The only conclusion I can think of is that the plug you connected up is linked to a solar panel which may be on the caravan roof out of sight which isolates the mains hook up when it's plugged in. This of course would still charge the battery which disconnects the mains supply because you can't have a 230 volts input simultaneously when connected to another source of power. The advice is to unplug it and see if the mains hook up cable works again.
When you plugged whatever it was in, you may have tripped the the EHU trip at the post. Maybe that thing you plugged in was connected to something faulty which was why it was left disconnected.
Unplug that connection, unplug from the EHU post, check the EHU trip and start again.
