Hi, hope someone can help please? I'm quite new to caravanning as have only had the van 5 months and i've come to caravan and the tap in the bathroom is leaking from the middle. from searching on internet I believe it's a Reich mixer tap (it's the one with top half chrome and bottom half white if that makes sense), the leak seams to be coming from within the tap, I wondered whether it's something that I can take apart and fix or if I need to replace tap?if I try to take tap apart and fail could it cause tap to start leaking as all the rest of my plumbing is working fine. If I have to replace the whole tap does anyone know if it's got a microswitch or if my system is pressure fed? If it is microswitched what do I connect the electric connections to? The tap at present seems to be connected to worktop with a bolt underneath and a hot and cold pipe coming from it, these seem to connect to caravan water pipes via push fit connections? Is it easy to replace the tap? Also looking for any advice as I drained down the system, left drain down lever open and left all taps open and removed shower head, is there anything more I could have done to stop this happening? Many thanks for any help
you seem to have done everything right in draining system down, only other thing i do is to blow down the shower pipe ,after water has drained off "closing the other taps" untill just air comes out.
regarding the tap ,how old is your van?, chances are you will have a pressure switch system, ( you can check by looking near the inlet water connection ) on the inside of the van, see if you can spot a small white plastic one way valve ,with an adjuster knob on the top --- that is the pressure switch.
anyway --the tap-- those type of taps usually have a cassette inside, which it is just a case of replacing the cassette. unless of course the plastic itself is broken, then you need to replace the whole thing, -- not easy to get to though.
pictures would help.

Thank you for your reply, i've put a picture of under my seat where my water goes into caravan , does this mean it's a pressure system rather than a microswitch? The 1st photo is of my tap, if you put it on lightly then it seems to just come from spout but if you pull lever up anymore then water comes dripping out where the white joins the chrome. Any help you can give me would be really appreciated
We have a 2018 Swift Challenger and we had a similar issue with our bathroom tap over the winter a few years ago. As we were still under warranty, we got it replaced, although we had to buy and fit the new tap ourselves and then claim it back directly from Swift as our dealer had the taps in stock but couldn’t fit us in to install it for a fortnight and we were heading off on holiday.
Then, a couple of years later, the same thing happened to our kitchen tap and as we were out of warranty by then we started off trying to fix it ourselves but replacing the cartridge didn’t work and we ended up replacing the tap. However, we replaced it with a standard domestic tap that we bought in screwfix for a tenth of the price of the official tap. We had to buy separate additional ‘tails’ for the tap to enable us to fit it into our system easily but even so, it still cost us a fraction of the price of a new official tap from swift. The biggest problem was accessing under the sink to fit it as Swift have not made the space very accessible in our model.
We are always careful about draining down the system as best as we can but sometimes things just happen. Our kitchen tap problem happened after we had a mobile service done, so the van had been filled with water for the service and then drained but as we hadn’t towed it, the residual water that is usually jiggled out when towing the van after draining it was still present, and a really cold snap the following week must have done the damage.
Unknown to me the tap aerator had fallen out and that was what was causing the water to leak down the tap. The only way I discovered this was when emptying the toilet cassette, the aerator somehow hit the side of the chemical disposal side and bounced on to the floor, a good clean and tap was fixed, luckily we only use our toilet for wees 🤣🤣🤣
