The front end of our caravan was doing a pacman imitation and have discovered that the floor has separated from the walls or vice versa, we've taken the one rail off so far got old screws out, replaced with slightly longer ones and refined awning skirt rail, is there anything else I could do to prevent happening again, also the front shelf under the windows was rotten so need to replace that too, but can use the old for a template, would softwood fascia be ok for the purpose of course painted

add some more 3 x 2 timber batons screwed to the floor and wall.. you can angle the screws down to hit the wall timber.. i dont think just adding longer screws is enough..

I agree with trog, the reason that the parts separated wasn't that the screws were too short, it's more likely that the wooden battens that they are screwed into have lost the ability to grip the screws because of rot caused by water ingress. The only long term solution is to remove and replace the rotten woodwork after fixing the reason why they got constantly wet.

Dave.
