Whole new steady required. Get from any decent caravan accessory shop or a multitude of online shops.

It could be time to get a new leg, the bit in the picture looks like its already been repaired with Belzona.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

That is the slide nut that runs up and down the spindle. see here

You have two choices, replace the whole unit, (pretty expensive) or dismantle it to get the new nut in, (cheap but awkward), neither choice is an easy one if the bracket is under the shower tray because of access to the retaining bolts from the top.

Use the Search facility on this forum to see what others have done.

Dave.

A temporary fix to let you use the caravan is a couple of wood blocks and a car jack.
I would start wire brushing the retaining bolts and applying plenty of penetrating oil now. The longer it has time to soak in the better!

new steadies are not that expensive.. the snag is you cant get at the top of the fixing bolts they are hidden away under something or other..

i made the mistake of cutting mine off with an angle grinder before realizing it was impossible to replace the bolts..

i drilled two more holes at the side of the original holes and used a couple of hefty coach bolts/screws.. luckily their was enough solid timber to screw into for a good fixing..

if you can undo the nuts replacing a steady is easy.. if you cant it becomes more difficult..

to fit a new steady you have to undo the two nuts.. drop the steady and slide it backwards..

the snag is you cant get at the top of the bolts to stop them turning or to replace them if you cut the old ones off..
