Our Truma water inlet housing has broken so we have bought a replacement and are going to fit it over the next few days, however, we need to seal it once fitted. Is it better to use a mastic tape or some sort of sealant in a tube.
I know people recommend sikaflex but I can only find it in a big tube which requires a caulking gun. Does anyone know of anything suitable that doesn’t require a caulking gun and comes in a small tube as it will not take much to seal around the water inlet?
All the waterproof sealants I know of only come in a cartridge which requires a caulking gun. However, W4 mastic sealing tape designed for sealing joints on caravans may be the best option for sealing a small area such as the Truma water inlet.
Thanks Tango. The link to the video is not working for me but I think we have a fair idea how to replace it. There are a few caravan accessory shops around where we are staying at the minute so I will call into a few and see if they have the w4 tape
We have just taken the broken housing off and the mastic tape underneath was still intact and still in good condition so we simply fitted the new housing in exactly the same place and screwed it down onto the existing mastic tape which made a nice tight fit. Wish we had checked before we bought a new roll of mastic tape! Never mind, I am sure it will come in handy at some stage and at least we have a nice new water inlet housing to replace the broken one.
