Hi All,



I'm upgrading electrics in our old (18 yo) van and there are couple of questions I could not find answers to on internet:



1) Are there any IP ratings required for indoor power sockets?

2) I noticed some sockets do not use earthing wire - is it because of the caravan age or for some other reasons?

3) Is it worth upgrading the fuse box? I'm assuming requirements has changed over the last 18 years, for example it's RCD these days instead of ELCB.

I am curious about number 2. Which sockets do not use earthing wires? My caravan is 31 years old and all the mains sockets have earthing connections.

The sockets should all be earthed if they are on mains, (like 13, 15 or 5amp with three pins). It may be that the sockets to which you refer are 12 volt DC that have only positive feed and negative return wires.
