If it was me I would disconnect the gas bottle immediately and get a qualified gas engineer before connecting again. Gas is too dangerous to mess about with.

Inclined to endorse Arthurs warning of don't mess with gas unless you are knowledgeable and skilled!

Without delving into too risky territory, few things come to mind.

Have you checked that you actually do have gas in the cylinder? I know it's a recent refill, but that doesn't stop it leaking away over time! Even a virtually empty cylinder will give you a puff of gas if briefly venting to atmosphere, but won't be able to pressurise the system to get anything out of the appliances! If you don't have any fancy gadgets to check cylinder contents, a shake should elicit a slopping sound, or weigh it (luggage scales or bathroom scales) and check it weighs more than the tare weight on the valve collar.

Not unknown for pigtail seals to become dislodged/damaged when replacing cylinders! Did you turn the cylinder valve off after last use, or did you rely on appliance valves? How old is your pigtail? - simple rubber ones should be replaced every 5 years (there should be a date of manufacture on it)! They become permeable over time and just leak gas through the walls even though they visually appear OK.

It's not unknown for regulators to fail (they should routinely be replaced at 10 years old! - there should be a date of manufacture or expiry date on it), they may appear to vent to atmosphere OK, but when on a pressurised system they can fail to deliver sufficient gas into the system.

On my Lunar van (and typically on other brands too) there are a number of isolation valves in the fixed piping, one in the gas locker not far from the regulator, and the rest near the gas powered appliances. Have they been turned off (ON is normally with the 'knob' inline with the pipe, OFF is 90 degrees to pipe)? Did the breakdown rescue guy ensure the van was safe to recover and turn any off?
