Hi all,

New here and new to owning a caravan.

We had issues from day 1, front windows leaking and timber no good. Had this rebuilt by Thetford Caravan Services Ltd. Also noted rear corners water damaged, so ask him to sort and he put aluminium squares to cover (he said awning rail rubber track water to under van) I also resealed both awning rails and rear strap on top. Well.... fast forward 1 year, noticed aluminium sagging on 1 corner (the worse one originally) so decided to remove this and plywood - basically the whole corner is no good, probably 16" from corner in both directions and comes out around 6-8" from side, weirdly, no damage to side walls..... I'm trying to find the root cause so sprayed hose on lights, handle and awning rail and lower awning rail, but couldn't see water coming in, really confusing...

Any ideas?

After we do figure this out, how do I replace the rear corner timbers? The other bits I'm ok with, just not 100% with the corner section and the bit that bolts to chassis - I really would appreciate a picture or little sketch etc

I had a similar experiance that resulted in me replacing the floor ply in my Bailey Series 7. The seal was ok, it was leaking in through th internal seal of the door construction. Luckily I caught it early enough that the internal wooden battens were ok when dried out. It's a Thetford No5 service door but I don't think said foam seal is available now as a spare part so if needed just seal with a flexible sealant like Sikaflex.
