we bought a 16 year old GT60 RANGER few weeks ago and have already had a little holiday in it.
my partner is wanting to do up the caravan, but hes found damp. now the damp is above the sofas in the corner. hes removed the cupboards and has taken of the ply of wood where the wall paper is. but as he's done this. the damp is on the frame of the caravan and has crumbled away. the more he seems to dig the more he finds. hes unsure where the damp is coming from.
hes unsure how to rectify this himself. any suggestions we are supposed to be going away again end of july

Damp is a very common problem with caravans, and not only older ones. I have heard of people on here with fairly new caravans who have had bigger problems than mine, and my caravan was built in 1992! Caravans are not that difficult to work on if you have some basic DIY skills but cost a fortune to have repaired professionally. I had some damp around the front of mine a few years back and I was quoted at least £2,000 to fix it, but told it would cost more if they found anything that wasn't immediately obvious. Which they would of course. I did the job myself for less than £200, and I'm in my late 70s.
