i'm fairly new to caravanning and have just booked a pitch for next week at searles in hunstanton??? a main serviced pitch water, waste & satilite tv can anyone advise me what i need to buy to use all these facilities. I've seen a carver water pipe that looks just like a hose pipe £35?? is this about right.
Hi Hounddog , The Carver water pipe sounds about the right price, but as well as the pipe there should be a ball valve fitting which goes inside the aquaroll. It will only fit the 40 litre version and goes in thro the side cap and screws down . this then acts in a manner akin to your toilet cistern at home. The other end, for which you will get a fitting provided with the kit screws onto the tap at the water supply point, this then keeps a constant level of water in the aquaroll. Don't throw away the handle tho cos not all the sites have these facilities. You will then require a length of grey waste water hose, so you can run waste straight into drain, usually located by water tap. If you have 2 outlets, ie 1 from sink and 1 from shower, connect them together with a Y type pipe fitting and 2 short pieces of hose then a long piece to the drain. I f you also want to use the TV service, obtain an antenna extension lead so you can plug one end into tv and other into their socket, usually located on the post where electric hook up is. Normally provide 5 standard channels plus a number of Sky channels including the cartoon channels for the kids. Have fun.............Mick

There are two types of mains water feed that you can use.
One connects straight between the caravan inlet and mains pressure tap - it has a hefty regulator in it and a valve that takes the place of the pump and opens when the tap switches operate. Personally I do not like these as you have mains pressure connected to your van and things *can* go wrong.
The other type is a small float valve that fits into the side of your existing AquaRoll and keeps it half full. You get water into the 'van using the pump in the normal way. This also has the advantage of giving you a supply of water even if the tap supply fails. If, like us, you have a Water Hog and not the AquaRoll equivilent then you will be pleased to know that the AquaRoll float system fits this as well
weve bought the one that goes in the aqua roll but havent used it yet, going to france in 4 weeks where we will defo use it, i fancied the direct one but had bought the aquaroll one b4 i knew they did it.

Having used our one for the first time recently at Daisy Bank I can assure you that you will not be disappointed!
Just don't do what we did....... We got so carried away we forgot there is still one place where water has to be put manually - the toilet header tank!!!!!
TThanks for all the advice. I went to my local caravan shop who only supplied the aquaroll type but he showed it to me and i went to our local B & Q and brought a small toilet cistern ball vale and fitted to the waterhog lid for £2.88. Just on another point do u have to use the flat/food safe hose or if you only use a new hose for suppling the water is there any risks.

New hose pipe is generally food grade anyway - they just don't label it as such! So long as you flush it through first as you should with any new pipe, it will be fine.
A couple of years ago I booked that Searles site for a bank holiday. Paid my deposit then they demanded payment in full a few days later (it was only 2 weeks to the holiday). I explained that I have entered a contract with them and would honour this and pay in full on the day I arrive. They demanded again or they would cancel my booking I was livid renting a piece of grass and having to pay up front. Anyway I phoned to pay and they told me they had give it to someone else and have lost my deposit. So I wrote a disgusting letter of complaint and told them I would never set foot on their site and would tell as many people about the way they treated us. A couple of days later they sent me a letter asking if i would send them some items down to them to raffle off. I think this was to pay for the extra entertainment they were laying on during the bank holiday.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
