I am desperate to resolve a water pump problem and hoping there is someone out there able to help!!
I have just purchased a Bessacarr Cameo 600 (1990) which has a new water pump, but is not connected. There are two wires from the pump, red & black. There is a switch with 4 terminals. There are also two wires in the same compartment coming from under the van (red & green) ,neither of which is live. There is a live wire at the switch which when on, runs the whale pump. My problem is where to connect the red and black pump wires ? Also where do the red & green wires from under the van connect?
I hope all that makes sense, and I will welcome any advice you can give!
On the above webpage look down it until you find Whale Watermaster System 921 and Whale Watermaster System 881 does your pump look like either of these ? if you look at the assemblys you have the pump at one end and the connection plug at the other ( this plugs into a socket on the outside of the caravan ) .
The caravan socket has 2 wires running from it ( inside the caravan ) , one will be earth and the other a live which is switched depending on which type of system you have , it will either be a pressure switched system ( switch is incorporated in the socket ) or a micro switch system ( switches are incorporated in each tap assembly ) .
To tell which system you have either have a look underneth one of your taps and see if there are wires connected to it ( micro switch system ) or have a look at the back of the socket( inside ) on the caravan if theres a large plastic screw then it's a pressure switched system . Which system do you have ?
My Whale pump which connects on the outside of the van works fine when the connecting switch is on and fills the internal tank when submersed in water. Next to the internal tank is a pump similar to a Sureflow which when connected to the live side of the switch pumps water to both taps (hot & cold) but doesn't stop when the taps are closed. There are no wires to the taps. I'm not sure at this stage whether, when the pump is pumping, it is also filling the central heating jacket. I really need to see inside a bessacarr water tank compartment to make sure that I have got the wires on correctly.
It sounds like there should be a pressure switch built into your Sureflow ( similar ) pump , the adjuster is either hidden under a cap near the electrical connections or under a silicone bung on the end of the pump assembly it probably needs adjusting , i think you just have a live supply to the pump and the pressure switch does the rest once correctly set .
