I have just purchased a Compass Connoisseur 400/2 1995. When I connect the electrics to my car 2001 Honda Accord, 12N pin only, the rear caravan fog or side lights came on permantely. All other functions are working ok.

I have checked the wiring with a diagram in the Haynes Manual, and also with a trailer board I have. All is correct.

Reading your post it looks like you have only checked the socket on your car? have you checked the plug on the caravan, daft question I know.
so would sound like a short on your van
as for which lights are on,
Side lights 8 watts Rear fog lights much brighter 21watts

If the rear fog light and side lights come on permantley and they're dim , i'd be checking for a bad earth connection on the caravan plug or the rear light clusters .
