Hi, this is most defenitly the main seal on the unit probably caused by limescale.

It is not too dificult to repair, but does involve removing the cascade unit from the caravan. We can explain how to do this or could even do it for your if youi require, please feel free to give our workshop a call on 01296 728772 for advise.

The Cascade can leak from under the flue cowl for three reasons. First by the 'quick drain valve' in the top left corner breaking or second through the 'fusible plug' set in the fins above the burner. The plug is designed to blow if things get to hot but more often fails purely due to age.

The other possible reason is 'frost damage' also often responsible for the first two problems and also breaking the plastic water inlet and outlet fittings inside the van. The most damage it does though is push the water tank backward as even a small amount of water freezes, this distorts the back of the tank which will need correcting before the tank will reseal. If the Burner module seal has moved away from the casting most of this water from the tank will leak out and appear from behind the flue outside. Even slight movement that then returns to normal can spin the 'O' ring seal and as said lime scale get in the way.
