i know my fridge should be cold inside but when i went away last i woke up in the night and felt a really cold draft comig from the underneath the fridge. I thought this strange as at home the vent at the bottom of my fridge has warm air coming out of it.
Is this normal?
Also my alarm has packed up working its an avenger by keen electronics. the light doesn't come on when i turn the key. i wondered if anyone could give me a check list before i haul it back to where i bought it from.
Remember that at the back of the fridge are the vents - open the outside, and the fridge is not fully sealed in its housing, so the cold draft could easily have been coming in from outside. The warm air that vents under your fridge at home vents outside the caravan - feel the air coming through the fridge vents and you will see what I mean.
thanks for the response. the draft was definitely from the fridge not outside i wondered wether this was normal. has anyone else noticed the cold draft from the fridge?
i wondered wether the rechargeable battery was probably to blaim will check. thanks for the response.
Hi, check the seal at the bottom of the fridge door is fitting nice a tight when the fridge door is shut. may be the fridge cold air was coming out around the seal.

Hi, we have a Dart and my vote goes for it being air blowing in through the outer wall fridge vents. We used it last winter and were getting such an icy blast we used a wad of foam as a temporary barrier. When the wind changed direction is wasn't so bad.
normaly you have a vent to allow for cooling of fridge below the heat output vent above being a caravan repairer i would agree that the cold was coming in from outside(as long as you have no gap in door seal( which still wouldnt be a cold draught anyway))
i have worked on vans that owners have removed lower vents and backed with cling film or foil
no way would i recomend this as vent is there not only to cool fridge motor but along with vent holes in floor in the event of a gas leak it will allow gas to escape easier
manufacturers dont cut big holes in side of vans without good reason

never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you on experience
1. Don't compare your home fridge with your caravan fridge. The home fridge will be a compressor fridge with the warm motor nearly at the floor. A caravan fridge is normally an absorption principle fridge, without compressor. It circulates the cooling fluid by using a small heat source. It need air circulation from bottom upwards to the top along the cooling ribs.
2. If you feel cold draught your fridge is not properly sealed from the inside. If the space behind the fridge is too wide and badly shaped often a warm air pocket is formed on top, hindering the air circulation. So the cold air has to go elsewhere and does not pass the cooling ribs anymore.
Sealing the fridge from the inside of your caravan and taking care that air is properly guided along the back of the fridge from lower vent to upper vent probably is the solution and also will enhance the performance of your fridge.
