I have a 2nd hand van and going out for the 1st time in 2 weeks I have two problems
The gas will not ignite on the elctrolux fridge, sparking quite clearly etc and gas line open but fails to ignite
also the oven will not stay on once ignited as the heat sensor seems not to work and maintain thr gas on once lit eve after wating 30 sec or so after lighting
Any simple tips before going to an expert would be appreciated
Silly question, I know, but are you testing these things with the 'van level - many fridges won't work properly on gas when the 'van is not level (don't know about the oven though).
1. Cleaning/servicing of the fridge.
But first, wait a bit after opening the gas connection. There may still have been ait in the gas pipe.
2. Seems that the thermocouple may be defective. It may have to be readjusted (the sensor-pin should be in the flame), or if it keeps malfunctioning, replace the thermocouple.
In other appliances (heater) I have done both during the years. First readjusted (pin could be fixed in e bit further position) and years and years later I replaced it.
Mind you: all gas appliances need proper cleaning/servicing from time to time. A clean burner has a bit longer ans hotter flame, which again can properly touch the sensor-pin of the thermo-couple.
Sounds like the thermocouple on the oven, it is this that holds open the gas valve.
Are you getting gas through to the burner on the fridge, it may still be turned of somewhere. If gas is getting through the igniter might not be positioned correctly.
