we picked up our brand new Ace Globestar yesterday, but I am having trouble with the electrics.

Most of the appliances seem to be working off the 12v supply only although the mains is connected. is this right??  our previous caravan had everything working off the mains and the 12v would only kick in if selected. the warm air blower,(not heating) tv aerial booster and most of the lights only work when the 12v supply switch is selected and if the 12v switch is switched off, they dont even though the mains is selected. however, all the mains appliances are working including water/space heater and fridge and warm plate/micro wave oven etc. there is a mains battery charger on the mains consumer panel which is lightgs up so the transfprmer is charging through the mains i think

As far as i am aware most newer vans work everything of 12V with the EHU charging the battery, just things like the water heater/heating switchable from electric to gas.

I presume this is to simplify things when not using hook up, less switches, only one set of lights etc

From what i understand these item's you mention are only 12v appliances so only work from your 12v supply and not the mains they work via the charger (working as a power supply) I have a 2006 Compass Corona and all these items only work with the 12v switch on...

hope this helps

12volt of new vans seem to run off a transformer rather than the battery. I think you will find that it depends where you position the main 12v switch.

If I may suggest..........take a couple of hours to go in the van, with the handbook, read it carefully and learn how everything works.  Not all vans are the same.  I'm sure if you work your way through all the instructions, all will become clear!
