We are thinking of getting one of these for our awning. http://www.screwfix.com/app/sfd/cat/pro.jsp?cId=102637&ts=35098&id=62670# The caravan is on a seasonal site so there are no issues with lugging it around. Has any one used one of these previously?

We use these to heat up Pit garages at Silverstone (Slightly bigger) but have changed to electrics re Fumes and very noisey Might be to much for awing.

Got one identical and use it in the awning. I had to buy an adjustable regulator for it as there is no way of controling the amount of heat it gives out. On its lowest setting it warms up my 975cm Inaca in a crack. I bought mine for around £60 last year so I suppose if you hunt around you will find one cheaper than the one from Screwfix. You will have to have a mains supply to drive the fan as well as gas for heat.

Bought a Glen fan heater from Trago mills about 5 years ago. Can be set just blown air, 1kW or 2kW. Has thermostatic control. Cost about £15. It keeps a 925 cms awning very cosy on cool summer/autumn evenings at 1kW setting. Intend to try it in porch awning during winter.
