Sorry if this has been asked before, but our caravan is due its service. What I wondered was do you completely empty it of all presonal possessions before taking it in or do you leave some stuff in it. I'm thinking pans in cupboard, spare bottle of loo blue in front box etc. A lot of stuff we don't leave in caravan anyway but there are a good few "bits and bobs" because van is in our garden rather than in storage elsewhere and makes a good storage "shed"!!!
Thanks.

I leave the normal things in my caravan when it goes in for service, clothes and bedding are the only things not in the van and I have never had complaints from the service guys.

We empty the van, partly because it allows a thorough check without things having to be moved, and avoids risk of something being missed due to clutter being in the way.
But don't forget to leave the service record book IN the van.

we always empty to make life easier for the fitters,if you think about it,if they charge by the hour (worth asking) it will take a lot longer to remove all the obstacles, test and put them all back.its a pain where to put it all until you get it back.some will have a set charge for the service.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

Gothika
You need to try shopping around if you can. The two workshops near me charge very different prices for a full service on a single-axle caravan.
Johns Cross - http://www.johnscross.co.uk/workshop2.html - charges £151.58
Caravan Tech - http://www.caravantech.co.uk/workshop.htm - charges £135 if you take the van to them or £125 for a mobile service.
They are both NCC registered.

Last year we paid £120 with full damp check.
The only stuff in our overhead lockers is dishes, so there is plenty space above them to get the damp meter in.
Remember to leave your pump in the van so they can check your water system.

Thanks all - some good advice there. We have emptied it of virtually everything bar the odd bit of pottery and a pan or two. As said above - it's a good opportunity to sort out the accumulated junk which we didn't even know was there! (but nothing quite as bad as that year old chunk of French cheese we found lodged in an out of sight but not out of smell corner of the fridge a few years ago!!)
Thanks again
