Hi all, need some advice on a LITTLE problem I have...

I own an '82 Abbey Devon, quite tidy and in fair to good condition except for the bathroom which has now succomed to damp.  It suffered water ingress from the centre roof and side joins.  These are now fully sealed but have left me with walls and a rear ceiling that are in poor shape - well quite bowed actually.

I've removed the bottom third of the two exterior walls in the bathroom and done a temp fix as I am quite busy at work and away for a w/end at Easter.  But when I get back I want to get rid of all the "badness".

I am going to have to replace the wall/ceiling battons and boarding.  The battons are easy; 2 x 1 and nonails will get them sorted.  But my real concern is what to use for the panelling(?).  It has been suggested that 8mm hardboard will do the job (quite inexpensive) or the melamine boards (expensive).

Anyone out there had to do such a big job?  Any advice/tips or pointers will gratefully received...

Thx in advance, Graham

Hi Graham , you need 3mm plywood for the walls .

Have a look here for wall board Olearys ( wall board near the bottom of the page )think it's about £15 a sheet , but you'd need to ring them and check .

Thx guys, both sites Favoritised for after Easter when I can get down & dirty with mi damp...

A lot to read up on but the work was obviously worth it in the end.  My Ma lives in Hull so can have a few days on the coast visiting and pick up the boards - they will save decorating!

Thanks again - will sort out some b4 & after pic's on photobucket when done.

A lot happier now
