I have just damaged the side of my van tearing it slighty on lip of a gate post. The tear is approx 80 cm in length and you can see the polystyrene through the tear. I have made sure the tear folds into the van and sealed with sikaflex and smoothed over for now. The van is 1990 so not worth an insurance claim. Any ideas how I could repair it so its not noticable? I was thinking filling next with p38 body filler then sanding flat and covering with some type of sticker. The problem is the sides of the van are not smooth they have a slight dimple pattern so I would need a thick sticker which would also hide the pattern.

To hide the tear I need something 80cm long by 5cm wide. Maybe a grill of sometype could be an answer although I have only seen grills 40mm wide.

Most caravan dealers have a range of vent sizes , i'm sure you'll find one that will cover the tear .

great minds think alike,if you fully seal it,use a vent fitted over the top and no one will know its there.use a sealer round the vent too,to help ward off water.

I need a grill 800 mm wide. Any other ideas? I don't think you will be able to get a grill this width.

What about reflective vinyl or a reflector? Do you think this sounds like a good idea.
