These are high quality, and expensive bits of kit and have a cultish following (see "Life in the Widerness" and "Bushcraft UK" and "Song of the Paddle" fora ).
Whilst a more specialist tent, some may perceive a less than ideal (what is?) resistance to strong winds due to "boxyness", but having said that, they and similar others, are very popular as bush tents.
I was on a site in Norfolk where a lady travelling around the country had a company (that supplies and pitches tent for you in advance) that used these, and it looked fantastic. Most impressive.
Alternatives would include bell tents and dutch pyramid style tents.
Quality polycotton material is no compromise of anything, especially within your brief, weight won't be your prime consideration?
(But then ALL my tents, whether for back packing, car or canoe camping, from small pup tents to a bell tent and all in between, are either cotton, canvas or polycotton)
One of my camping friends and experienced camper had an Oztent for a short time.
He sold it fairly quickly. If I remember correctly he had no issues with the tent once up but when packed it was very long and caused issues with transporting it.
Double check You can transport it easily before buying .

Great tent......
We had the oz tent 4....The wife and I had some great weeks in it. In fact we took it to ayr caravan site in St. Ives Cornwall, stayed 18 days it was that comfy. They are like a Tardis if things are put away tidy... Would recommend the fly sheet tho... for condensation.
Ours fitted inside our disco 3... However you can get a roof basket for them..
Room inside to stand..perfect, had two of them alloy type fold up army type beds plenty of room. Will try and find pics of my set up and put them in my gallery.

👌👌👌👍....Enjoy
the RV1 does not have room to stand in. the advantage is that it is a litle shorter when packed so will fit into most med/large cars. The RV1 is now discontinued (propbably not as popular due to the lack of headroom.) but I think it will suite my needs.
The problem I have is there is no fly sheet with it and because it is discontinued the fly is no longer avalibe either. I think I have 3 options
Well I managed to get out in the tent over the jubilee weekend. I could not get any photos though as my phone decided to self destruct on the morning of the trip (internal battery swelled up)
I also had a new Hi gear camp kitchen that I found very useful. previously I had a sigle table that I cooked on but then had to clear to allow us to sitdown to eat.
The tent itself was straigt forword to put up by myself (including the zip on wall pannels) although I did find it needed quite a bit of adjustment to get it all square and get rid of any sag. the front pannel is a mesh wall with a large flap over it and found the flap ws flapping orund in the wind at night. the peg points are at the bottom of the mesh part so it is not so easy to tie down the front flap. However I probably could of made things better by getting the front more taught (it still was a bit loose) but this does invole moving pegs and and adjusting poles so it is hard to get it just right but this was my first attempt at a full set up.
We did have rain the first night and the tent was solid but on the second night I did get some condensation. At the same site in April we did get condensation in my airbeam tent also but as it had an inner sleeping tent there were no drips in the sleeping area but in the oztent there were a few drops of water on my sleeping bag.
At first I did not think it offered anything my old airbeam tent did not do already. That was untill the rain came. the square sides of the front area means it like a small room so was a much more comfortable to sit in and had room for the camp kitchen. in good weather this is all outside and the tent is just a sleeping area but if you have to take selter the oztent was working better for me and made things more comfortable. The other advantage is it is a modular system so offers a lot of flexability of how you set up. in fine weather I can see myself only setting up the main tent and it awning or for a quick overnight transistin stop you can just put up the main tent with no extra poles in no time and just add the bedding and sleep.
overall I think it will work out well for me my only niggle is condensation in the sleeping area so I do need a fly sheet of somekind
