I bought a Klondike grande last year, and a Fairbanks more recently. What initially attracted me to these robens tents was the high cotton content of 65%. When shopping lately I noticed robens website now states 35% cotton, and have got confirmation that they have now changed to this material ratio since 2018. Even though the labelling says otherwise on my tents.
I'm feeling a bit misled about this and unsure if I should've gone for full cotton. I didn't want 35% cotton tent when I bought them.
Has anyone got much experience of full Vs poly cotton, and particularly old robens 65% cotton Vs newer 35%? Their representative assured me the newer tents are just as breathable as before. But I find that hard to believe. Do all polycotton tents tend to follow the 35/65 cotton/polyester or are some higher. Robens was the only higher one I found, or thought I had!

I have both cotton and polycotton tents, including the Fairbanks.
Certainly it has been my experience in the past that the majority of polycotton (a misnomer really!) have been 65% cotton and 35% polyester, with some notable exceptions such as those from Spreen/CampingOutdoors/10T. Their polycotton has been 35% cotton and 65% polyester. I have one of their 4 metre tarps/awnings and I find the material vey similar in feel to the Robens "earlier" weave on my tent. (Both perform very well)
I just innately, don't like the idea of a higher percentage of polyester than cotton in the weave!
I can't help but wonder though, if something was purchased as labelled, and subsequently wasn't so, whether one shouldn't be compensated?
Could it be the tent is an older model with the 65% cotton in the mix. A lot of new tents have not necessarily been made that year. Some can sit on shelves for a few years.
Unless it is sold as an example " 2019 model" there is not a lot you could do?

I have a Fairbanks, only used it twice and on both occasions it rained most of the time. It seems to be pretty good at keeping me dry with no condensation and it dried out quickly when I hung it over the banister. I also have two polyester tents which are ok but do suffer with condensation but dry out very quickly but when you are in wet condition for a long time things start to get damp eg. sleeping bags etc. Not true of the Fairbanks. I also have a Karsten 350 which is made from pure cotton canvas, The Karsten is even better than the Fairbanks it really does breath and is great in cold and hot conditions. Its drying time is slow compared with polyester or polycotton and very often leave the campsite with a wet heavy tent. There is no change I will ever hang the Karsten over the banister it much too big and heavy. I have to blow up the Karsten on my lawn when there is a break in the weather which is a down side with 100% canvas tents.⛺️

I'm sure posters will know, but the 21-22 Robens HydroTex cloth as they call it, changed from 65% cotton and 35% polyester to 65% polyester and 35% cotton...... a retrograde step in my book?
