Does anyone know of a tent that has a separate mesh door on the bedroom?!
I live/camp in a high midge area so this is a must !
When I last bought a tent (2012) I’m sure every tent had this…and now I can’t seem to find any tents that have this and match my 4 requirements….
Which I thought were fairly simple
1 Must be able to stand up in the tent
2) all doors - including bedroom - must have separate mesh doors
3) 4 persons …or thereabouts- nothing too massive as just two of us and a dog!
4) NOT inflatable - if we camp on our land we have cats who are idiots!
Any help or pointers gratefully received!!
Thanks

We have a Kampa Brean 3 poled tent: this is stand-up height, has a small rain-safe canopy, and is pretty easy to set up solo.

The inner can be left in situ to save pitching time. It has a mesh (albeit half) door to the inner tent, zippable up/down as needed, and the side door/window has a full mesh option also.

The only criteria it doesn't meet is a front door mesh. The front door does fold flat for easy exit/entrance. I've been thinking about how to add one, as the door unzips and rolls to one side, not a roll up one. Maybe by hanging a mozzie net from the tent pole sleeves either permanently or temporarily.

I think some manufacturers are reducing costs by not doubling up the inner tent door options such as having only half. Our Outwell Monterey 4 has an inner one can leave in but, doesn't have a mesh door (I wish it did) nor on the front door.

Anyway, not sure if that helps or not!

Oh, how about the Outwell Sky 2?

From the pics it looks as tho' it has a mesh front door, and a half-one on the inner tent, and stand up height.

Hi Bridgeywidge,
thanks for the reply, much appreciated.
Yes, it does seem from asking various tent shops and manufacturers that cost cutting means no more extra mesh door on the bedroom/inner tent.
The only tent I have found that met all my requirements was the nomad dogon 4 (+2) - a lovely looking tent but above my budget - retails for around £900.
In the end I found a prototype version of the Harris TC 500 through Vangos outlet - campingrecycled. It doesn’t have mesh on the inner tent but I decided that I was going to have to compromise somewhere - and for less than £500 for this TC tent I will add a mesh door on the inner if needed!

The Outwell Trout Lake 4 ticks all your boxes. The earlier models have five opening windows, all with opening mesh screens as well as the bedroom compartments. Check them out on the tent review section on this website. I`ve reviewed them myself.

The mesh we had on our tents kept out mosquitoes, but not the west highland midge which is a tiny speck. (Many varieties of midge, I can only speak for the Argyllshire ones.)
So if you can’t find the ideal tent, you might have to look for PPE or apply an effective lotion or potion. Plenty of threads on that topic, but I hope you find your ideal tent.
(We have a battery operated blue light bug zapper, but I’m not convinced it’s effective against midges.)

There's something called 'no-seeum' mesh (or so I believe) for those tiny specks of irritation. Maybe it's available to purchase by the metre (Esvo sell DIY tent materials). You could, if desired, hack your own tent to suit (I can't think of the right trendy word for this!). But first, find the tent that ticks most of your boxes (we're a picky bunch ).

Glad you've found, like U2, what you're looking for.
