i bought a vango aspen too brand new two years ago and it leaked but as it was new i recieved a full refund. this would not stop me from buying another vango as yes it may be just one of those things.
not ever owning a rage tent i cannot comment on their quality other than saying that the tents they offer seem to me to be cheaper copies of named brand tents like the one stated in the forum and the rage norvik500 dlx (vango aspen 500).
in my experience you do get what you pay for and yes sometimes paying an extortionate amount more for something isnt always proof of better quality. but look at the prices of similar quality tents if the one your looking at is much much cheaper than its peers then you have to ask the question is it as good? and if so why copy the look of the dearer tent? why not design our own look? hmmm.
ever bought that perfume that sounds and smells like the more expensive real thing? yeah usually crap isnt it, and never lasts as long.
this is just my opinion and not a statement of fact. just know that when your buying something all the different viewpoints can help.
oh and finally an old saying which may help when reading the reviews and forums..... if six people tell you your ill then lie down!!!
if you were buying from ebay and you saw so many bad reviews about the seller would you still buy??? hpe this helps somehwat with your decision

A friend purchased one of these Rage tents against my advice from Ebay. What a heap of rubbish. The quality was horrendous and it leaked like a sieve. Ruined my friends holiday.
We were at Great yarmouth in August and there was a rage tent just below us and we had a week of rain and winds. The rage tent leaked like a sieve everytime it rained then one afternoon of wind and the tent was destroyed and there holiday was ruined.
That is the second rage tent that i have seen this happen to.

Can i say that do you get all your clothes from Lagerfeld, Paco Rabanne, Dior or Jean Paul Gaultier? These people who fashion their clothes for the runway but from whom all the highstreet shops get there clothes from. So how can you comment and say a tent company is no good based on your opnion that because they copy they must be rubbish, they are not claiming to be a Vango or Gelert tent they are Rage and Leben who get inspiration from other tent manufacturers. Much as Top Shop and Selfridges is to Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier. So i believe you analogy is not very well founded.

New here but for what it's worth we have had a Rage LOFOTEN 6 for the past year and it has been no problem in any conditions, in fact we recently looked into replacing it with a bigger Rage tent - the Haarstadt 8 model - as we liked it so much. Well the Haarstadt arrived from Tentastic and we proceeded to erect it for the 1st time - the quality of the tent was appalling with mis-stitched seams and mis-shapen panels, it is being returned for a refund, have to say communications with Tentastic have been excellent and cannot be faulted.
The point is if you get a good one as our first was it does not mean another will be, I suspect the quality control is less than perfect at Rage and judging from comments on this site more than the expected number of "rogue" tents gets out of the factory than with some of the better known/expensive makes.

Good point Jude!
Remember though that an awful lot of the expensive brands suffer from quality control problems too. So, as the old saying goes; "You pays your money and takes your choice!"

They sell thousands of these direct on Ebay, through Tentastic, and the feedback is very good. I was skeptical about the price/quality, so I actualy emailed people who had bought one earlier in the year, to see if they were happy with it (and had not left feedback based just on swift and complete delivery.)
EVERY response I had told me not to worry, and that they were very happy with their tents.
I'm happy with mine - but it hasn't been tested in adverse weather yet - (I might change my mind after next weekend!)
