I'm sooo jealous,  I love the look of the Monty 6 but can't justify buying one to OH as its only the two of us who would use it.  Does anyone else have a Monty, or similar sized tent, for just 2 people?

Good luck with the solo pitching superjules, let us know how you get on

Wow!!!! Now I am REALLY jealous! I don't think letting OH see that link would help my cause much though, as he will think I will want to buy all the kit as well (which of course I would!)

There's just 2 of us and we have a Monty, the extra space was great when we camped for 10 days. Only used it for that and 2 weekends due to our lovely British weather though

Woohoo - monty's here and he's up in my garden. It took me 20 mins (and a blood blister on my finger!) to get all the poles in and upright, and 35 mins with some pegging out and rearranging my tarpaulin "footprint", including stepping back lots of times to admire my handiwork! I feel much happier knowing I can manage it, although it's much heavier than my Coleman and admittedly it's only very mildly breezy here today.

On the downside, my one of the side canopy pole sections is bent so I can't get the porch up, and I've been sent a kids room for a Hartford XL, so TAG are arranging to replace both of those. Fingers crossed they arrive in time for next Friday.

Well done to you Jules, you truly deserve the name superjules.  It took the two of us to put ours up first time.

I am now fretting because it was put away wet and haven't got the space to take it out.  Hopefully we will take it out sunday morning on the common, if the weather holds.

Mande... there is only two of us and I just love the extra space.

Scarlett, I learnt the hard way that if the tent instructions say "put all the poles in the tent then lift it up" it is the law that you must burn the instructions and do it your own way! If it's too heavy for one person to lift then I believe it's also too much pressure on the material and, in a lot of cases, the poles too. I put it up in a similar way to my coleman, put the back pole in first, pull it upright, roughly peg out the back then work forward. Those are some seriously heavy duty poles, mind you!! Shame about the ridiculous pegs Outwell think are fitting for such a tent.

I hope you get your tent dried out this weekend. The forecast is good so fingers crossed for you.

superjules your such a star yes the poles on the monty are heavy and i am very impressed by your efforts puts a few here to shame me thinks, did you have any probs with the porch pole ie rubbing against the tent fabric i know some have, i used releasable cable ties to bind it back but what a tent, glad you got the front extension perfect to keep the chairs there and a joy to sit under even if its raining, had a ufo light attached  to the top of the porch and the little one was so happy.

Hope you have loads of fun and good, times all the best

Yep - we do. Nothing like a bit of space to move around in when it's raining!

Well I put ours up for the 1st time today just to check everything and make sure the was nothing missing, you guys kind of worried me a bit about it being hard to put up and harder to get back in the bag, I had it up, checked and back in the bag within half an hour and all done on my own, didn't guy it out, just roughly guyed the two end poles, was dreading the wrapping up and getting it back into the bag, went in 1st time, guess wrapping 40' tarpaulin sheets up for the wagon for the last 20 year might have helped here

Thanks all for the advice on Footprints and Tarpaulins from B&Q - out off luck on both counts as all out of stock including 3 B&Qs in two counties.

Never mind though, used two or three tarps I had and put the Monty up for the first time  - Fantastic.  Followed the instructions and won't do so again.

So pleased with the tent, can't wait to go and try it for real. even got it back in the bag.

You traitor you.... What about the Coleman eh? Honestly... how could you do that to it?

I had a cheeky look at the monty 6 too. Nice tent. Flippin' heavy tho. My OH struggles with our Darwin 5. I don't think he could handle another 10kg.

Sorry Jules  - I do love my coleman but it's starting to look so sorry for itself after two years of abuse. On our last outing, another pole has split and the pole sleeves have started to disintegrate. It's peppered with little holes from where we managed to pack it up with some ants in it and it's not really big enough for all of us on longer stays if the weather's bad. I still think it was fab value though and OH did remarkably well to buy such a great tent when he didn't know what he was looking for.

That's my justification and I'm sticking to it!

PS. Another 10kg is only an issue if you try to pick the whole thing up in one go!
