probebly needs a good long airing - you may need to do this over a few days or if no space next season in local park or friends bigger garden! could you try some oust or fabreze spray perhaps?

Hi Landycampers I have an Aquatite awning for my campervan. It looks very much like your frame tent but has a tunnel piece on the back to attach to our van.
Our awning was made in 1982, so this will hopefully help you date your tent.
You did very well to win the auction for 99p as the frame awnings fetch anything up to £100 in VW circles.
Regards
Steve

How are you getting on with it??
Have you had it up and thoroughly aired out now?
You could wash the insides on a low temp wash and how about a good hose down of the tent and a clean with some tent cleaner and reproofer (worked for our rather 'green' Bear Lake)

You can wash the inner tent on a cool wash no problem. id say youd have to thoroughly wet and dry the actual tent while its erected for a few days of its still smelly. and wash the bag too.

Thanks! My daughter had a heart transplant nearly 3 years ago when she was 6 years old. The difference it has made to her is amazing.

By the way, my tent smelt very musty. I've given it a good soaking with Fabsil because the canvas really needed it. I've now replaced the musty smell with a horrible chemical smell!

Hi again,
Managed to put up frame tent for quick look and there are limited pics in gallery. It was quite difficult to do as we have a narrow garden. Really like the white stringy decor on window flap! The whole tent in in very good condition but it smells really fusty! any ideas? Im currently airing the bedroom pod on the washing line under carport but keep getting nasty whiffs every time i open the front door! We are pleased with the tent and definitely worth 99p. Will try and get better pics when we put it up properly! Got to say hubby wasnt sure about camping in it (No SIG thing) but it will definitely be used as cooking /eating tent when we go as large family group.I still cant believe how good condition it is for age of tent. I dont think it has been used very much at all.
Thanks
Heather
Leave the tent up a bit to air (not the best time of year for this, I realise) and wash the inner in a washing machine, making sure you do a double rinse cycle to make sure all the suds are gone).
On the next good drying day you could gently hose the canvas and make sure it is well pegged and guyed whilst it dries out, to keep the canvas taut. You can also check for waterproofing then - go inside and look for any dark patches where it is letting water through. If it is watertight, the water will just bead and run off the canvas. Only re-proof if necessary.

Is it possible you could send me any pictures of this awning, I have just bought one for my 1982 T25 wedge camper but think this awning is the wrong shape to fit to it.
Such a shame, I think its the loveliest awning I've ever seen. just wondered if anyone wanted it for a bay or spilt screen?
