Well we went away last weekend for the bank holiday, and the weather was really bad. Very windy and raining when we put the tent up, so that it took 4 of us to hold it down etc. Once it was up though it was fine, even though the tent was taking a serious battering in the winds, and I mean a real battering. Watching the poles and tent bend and buckle in the wind was very scary, particularly as the roof poles are fibreglass and the deflection was pretty extreme, but I double pegged the guy lines and it stood up very well with no leaks at all.
Thanks to bwfcdave1 for the heads up on the pegs. I took a combination of heavy duty hard ground pegs and sturdy plastic ones for the first pitch, and they were fine. Looking at the supplied pegs it was easy to imagine the edge cutting the guy lines, so thankfully with the heads up I went never intending to use them, nor will I either.
Anyway, all in all a good weekend despite the weather, and very happy with the tent. My one gripe is that it's difficult to close the front door with the guy lines taut, as has been mentioned elsewhere, but still a lot of tent for £250.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
Hi Dave,so glad you had a good holiday and im glad the tent stood proud but i think you might be right about those bent over pegs they give you, after speaking to OH he thinks that was the pegs we used on the side of the tent and that along with the fiberglass poles giving so much is what caused the guy line to snap, but as we where out for the day,we couldnt see it coming lol, when OH gets back at weekend i will get him to post the pics(good and bad) of the tent and then you can get an idear of what we went through, and we found we had a problem with the door and sig but managed to adjust the poles,so i hope you have lots of happy holidays with the Corado like you said a lot of tent for your money and i can second that!!!! except for my problems it really was a good tent....shame!
Well I hope you get sorted with a new tent for the next season and have better luck next time.
Managed to get the extra canopy last weekend ready for our next outing. Probably won't be until Easter or so, but as the tents and canopies seem to be in short supply now, we took the opportunity when our local Go Outdoors suddenly got stock of a few canopies.
sorry to hear about your poor tent comic wife i hope you find another tent that you can love as much
we took our corado 6 away for the weekend last weekend and the weather was horrific the tent stood up to the wind really well the 1st night but it got up so much during the 2nd day and was getting worse so we took the tent down packed up and went home .
giving it another outing over halloween weekend fingers crossed all goes well although i'm sure it will be fine
Interesting ref water coming 'up'- our first trip out in the new khyam onty 8 resulted in water leaching up thru during heavy rain- never come across it before, no sign of damage to the material- but the groundwater came thru no problem---- (and the footprint!!)
