Just reread the OP! A Vango Banshee 300 for £55 would be a a cracking bargain. If the two of you can get your heads around the 'side to the door' business I think you'll struggle to find a better backpacking tent at anything like that price.

I have a Terra Nova Quasar (which is the K9s test ticals) I also have as space packer plus circa 1986 which has taken all that GB weather can give and I still use it.

Eitherway, I was not saying that the £55 Vango was the best ever back packing tent but that it would be a decent buy and probably unbeatable vfm in that price range. Which is what I think!

I would have a look on ebay and see if anything suitable comes up - you never know! Other than that, spend what you can on the best tent you can justify (for a one off camp, I know you won't want to invest too deeply - that can come later
