Tentbox is one of several makes. Despite the romantic photos that they posts online, in a lay-by with a beautiful view, it’s not legal to use them for overnight parking in car parks etc: we’re legally allowed to sleep here overnight in our vehicles so we don’t fall asleep at the wheel, but we are supposed to stay inside the vehicle. So roof tents are (strictly speaking) only legal on campsites - which is also where the toilets are. Not enforced though.
Only for the agile with strong bladders, in my opinion. Need to cook outside / in a dining tent, or eat out at a pub every night.

Agree.
In addition, I would struggle to load it up onto a suitable vehicle and take it down afterwards for each trip!
I struggled with an empty roof box 15 years ago!

Nothing wrong with eating out in the pub every night.
Just think of it as interacting with the locals.

pop up toilet tent wi a porta potti innit
With my conventional tent, Porta Potti goes in spare bedroom - don't get cold, wet or have ladders to contend with!
And of course, same with the caravan, never leave the premises!
Yes I've got soft in my old age, and learnt how to make camping more comfortable, not more challenging.
Isn't putting up a toilet tent rather undermining the 'ethos' of a roof tent and it's near ready to use camp 'potential'? Time you've sorted a bit of a kitchen set up as well, you're setting up camp proper, but just with an elevated tent! To me, losing even what little appeal a roof tent had in the first place!
Everyone to their own and all that, not judging what others want, just my view of what it'd seem to be to me.
