hi - regarding SIG, what has put me off them is the thought of having to dry the tent indoors - a groundsheet can just go on the clothesline to wait for better weather. It occurred to me last week when I was drying tents all over the house - was pleased they didn't have SIGs.

I get round this by using a cheap tarp under the SIG. This keeps the SIG clean and dry, adds an extra layer of insulation and the tarp can be chucked in a bin bag to be dried and cleaned like any other removable groundsheet.

Hi Carol - I do use a tarp under the groundsheet as well - what I meant was, but didn't put very well -  was that if the tent is damp and you have to dry it in the house - if it has a SIG it's more unwieldy than if it's just the fly sheet plus inners - which do have SIG but are quite small and light. I was thinking of those big tents that have SIG in the living area, not just bedroom pods.

Hi nafniz,

Have you considered a Vango TBS Oregon?
http://www.vango.co.uk/products/tentsinfo.asp?typename=223

Like Wendle already said, the Wynnster Anglesey is a great tent however unfortunately I reckon you'd have really big problems trying to pitch it on your own. Although it is worth it for the end result, it takes the two of us quite a long time to pitch ours and it isn't the easiest task.

Due to this we are now considering either a Khyam / Campus Yale or a Vango TBS Oregon for weekend use although we haven't yet decided which it will be. Good luck, let us know how you get on.

Hi!

I've finally done it & ordered the sunncamp ventura - I am so excited!

My first pitch is likely to be at the beginning of April (can't wait!) and I'll let you know how it went, hey I may even write a review.

Jacquie, I do like the look of the Khyams very much but was pretty sure I wanted a SIG (maybe next time  ).

CamperJan, I also looked at the Vango Oregon after I saw it suggested on another thread and thought it was good, very similar to the ventura, but I prefered the split bedrooms.

Oh, and Carol, I plan to do just that thing with a cheap tarp!

Thank you all very much for your warm welcome and kind help. I did seriously investigate and consider every suggestion and they were incredibly useful.

I may not post again before April but will remain a dedicated lurker until then!
