Just for you
How about the Kauai reef
Must admit im tempted by the maui reef for weekends but need to sell a few tents first or it really will be Tammy Wynette for me

Everything has been said before, but since nobody ever listens we have to keep going back and saying it all over again and again and again

Thanks for all the advice - greatly received. I have bought the FIley 6 Classic /Vestibule/Carpet and Footprint today from Norwich Camping. Good size, well thought out and having the vestibule means we can seal the 'outside' area from the elements.
It was a close call for the Hypercamp Familia 6 being lighter, bigger and similar price. However, not seeing it in the flesh, and not having carpet / footprint readily available (I 'm sure I could have sourced alternatives) seemed a step to far. The size was similar to the Wolf Lake 7 and therefore a 2 man job to erect.
Really excited about receiving the tent and weather permitting will load up next weekend for a trial run.
I think we will keep a close eye on the tent market over the next few years to see what else comes along in the way of Air beam tents.
I really wanted an Outwell tent but they seem to have a marketing ploy to get you to buy extras - For example the Wolf Lake 7 you need to spend £400 to get a front door and ground sheet for the porch area – is it me or is that crazy?
However they seem to be leading the way with thoughtful touches like hanging rails/ tinted windows etc.
Any advice on the Filey Classic – should I use different pegs/guys etc. Someone mention a different way of erecting the tent from the way described in the instructions.
Sorry for all the questions – I am opting for electric hookup on the forth coming holiday – Can you put a small electrical heater in tents? Any simple light recommended?
PS I an going to start a new topic on very poor service received from Yeomans Outdoors to share and warn others
We do use an electric heater (and an electric blanket). Lots of old threads on pros and cons of the various types of heater (noise or strong light being the main cons...)
For lighting I use a very very basic mains fitting (Ikea, I think) with a low-energy bulb in it. I attach it to the ties in the centre of the roof and run the cable down through the Velcro loops - there for that purpose. I tend to unplug it in heavy downpours.
My footprint is rectangular, so doesn't cater for the 'blob' on the side of the tent (guess yours will be the same?), so I use a separate small groundsheet under that.
As for pitching method, I think you will evolve your own - don't forget to share it when you've mastered it!
Congratulations on your purchase of what I believe is an excellent VFM tent.
Of course, it ain't perfect, but I seriously doubt any tent is/would be!!
For pitching, follow THIS VIDEO.
It's for the lighter polyester version, but it still works for the heavier polycotton.
I even managed it On my own........ and be assured, I can do it a lot quicker, now I know what I'm doing!
I would say,inc the footprint, a good hour/hour 10mins from opening the boot to having it up, straightened, and fully guyed out.... on your own
40mins for two adults.... at a comfortable/steady pace!!
Congratulations on going for Polycotton. I doubt you ll regret it. Nice and quiet in breezy conditions and the weight adds to the solid feeling of the tent.
Outwell are not alone in charging for extras - every manufacturer does but I agree that Outwell s extras don't come cheap!
I'm not a fan of Outwells latest thin " fuzzy felt " carpets and the price they charge for them - I found the Hi - Gear carpets way more attractive in design, colours, fluffyness and price!
I hope you enjoy your new tent and manage to get it up and weathered to make it waterproof soon!
Just remember it must be completely bone dry before you pack it away!
And that includes the guys lines - leave them loose and dangling so they dry out when they get wet!

Hi we have the filey classic yet to pitch ,will do next week.
It is a big bugger takes up room in our trailer and we do not have the Vestibule we followed mucker suggestion and have seperate it as much as posssible to reduce weight .
we will take a small electric heater either oil fillled or fan heater type too.
We got the carpet and are using a ground sheet as footprint.we also have 20 rock pegs to use
has anyone fabseale the guysas this would help with drying, found that with other tents they took longest to dry?
do not over fill roofboxwith heavy items .
we are looking forward to happy camping times with our new tent
When you come to buying your trailer always get the biggest you can store/afford
Time and weather permitting... I need to get my Frinton up at the weekend, to check repairs, (and soak to check for leaks through repairs, too.)
Whilst I'm at it, I am seriously considering "Fabsilling" all the guy lines and seeing how it goes (with a view to doing similar to the Guys on the Filey, at a later date).
I have the large tin (5L?) I intend to remove guy, dip in tin, hang on washing line (hopefully for a couple of hours max, in sunshine/wind), then re-attach.
I'll let you know how I get on.... unless someone comes on here any time soon shouting "NOOOOO!!!!!"
