Lovely looking tent DK! (and cute dog!) I really like the porch bit, wish my Barbados had one sewn on it would be very useful. Well done for winter camping too, your braver than me!
Got EHU, fan heater and an electric under-blanket, so we were very cosy.
I don't like the heat and prefer the cold, so it makes sense to camp in winter.

I do love the look of that tent, especially decked out for Christmas! Do you have any photos of the inside to give an idea of the space? Pictures of tents on sellers' websites never have people or objects in them so it's difficult to judge the scale. I've been drooling over your lovely tent ever since you got it, even though I'm not planning to get one (yet!). I'm glad you're enjoying it. Did you patch up the hole in the door? I can see something on the door in the photo and wondered if that was a patch or a Christmas decoration.
No interior pics, sorry, as I am not a very tidy person, and had boxes/bags everywhere.
You'll never find me on House and Garden for certain!

The new Esvo with scallop edge around the base of the tent is really nice, and I hope Dawn will get one and post some pics for us to drool.
I'm still saving DK! Sadly Xmas put a bit of a dent in the finances and the new Esvo feels further away than ever but it remains my dream next tent. Have you seen on the Esvo website that they now have some more pictures of the new Beduin tent and that they are making side screens and a variocanopy for it as well http://www.esvocampingshop.com/en/tenten-en/pyramid-tents-en/bedouin-en.html
I want this tent (+ variocanopy) SO MUCH - the total cost would be 1248 euros, that's just over £1000.......sob.......must win the lottery!
Yup, I have been perving this tent on Esvo too, and have seen the new pics.
The issue I have with it is that there is no inner tent for it, just a curtain divider.
I know this is quite common, however, when I camp in the colder months, I would like to have a inner tent to make it cosier.
Still cheaper than a similar De Waard though.

Yes, I see - have to say that no inner tent is not an issue for us as we tend not put them up anyway - hubby being very tall his feet usually stick through inner tents! Plus we are fair weather campers (at the moment) - this is something I want to change however
The Beukenoot does not have the scallop edge on the canvas which makes the Bedouin unique.

I have revised the pitching sequence again after I struggled with pulling the canvas over the middle frame after raising the front frame with a partially raised main canvas, due to lack of upper arm strength.
What worked for me was to fit the horizontal sections and the two corners with spikes of the middle frame to the canvas first without the leg sections, as I found it easier to pull the eyelet over the second spike with my arms down and not up. The tension in the canvas was sufficient to hold the partial frame in place without fitting the leg sections to it.
1. Peg down additional groundsheet if used
2. Assemble the following poles and section of poles: centre pole, and the straight leg sections of the front and middle frames
3. Roll out the groundsheet on top of the additional groundsheet
4. Peg down the four corners of the groundsheet
5. Bring the EHU kit out and place it in the living area of the groundsheet before un-rolling the cable
6. Trail the EHU cable along one side of the tent, then along the back, and pass it out of the tent at the opening where the zips meet
7. Hook up EHU
8. Roll out tent canvas (minus the front panel) on top of the EHU kit and groundsheet
(NB: if it rains, it would be advisable to roll out the canvas first, then bring the EHU kit under it for protection etc...)
9. Zip the canvas onto the groundsheet
10. Peg out the four corners of the canvas loosely
11. Partially fit the middle frame to the canvas: the two corner sections with spikes with rain cowls in place, and the middle sections, remembering to feed the pole sections through the sleeves in the canvas (leave out the straight leg sections at this stage)
12. Fit the front frame onto the canvas, with rain cowls in place, remembering to feed the pole sections through the sleeves in the canvas
13. Guy out the front frame loosely but securely in case it is windy
14. Fit the tent carpet if used
15. Raise the central main pole to approximately 80 degrees from horizontal
16. Fit the inner tent, making sure the EHU cable is not sandwiched under it, and hook it up to the main pole
17. Raise the main pole to approximately 80 degrees from horizontal (it is easier to fit the middle frame when the canvas is loose at this position)
18. Fit the straight leg sections to the middle frame, and raise it to a lowered position
19. Zip on the front panel
20. Raise the middle frame to position
21. Close the zips fully and hook up all the hooks on the groundsheet and front panel
22. Raise the main pole to its final position
23. Peg down the remaining eyelets on the groundsheet
24. Peg down the canvas, starting with the one in the middle at the back, then the middle one on each side, alternate between back, right and left etc., until all the guys are in place
25. Adjust the position of the front frame and guys
26. Adjust the guys on the canvas until it is taut
27. Fit the front groundsheet section if use

I forgot to mention the importance of protecting the groundsheet zip from water ingress by ensuring the clear plastic strip is correctly positioned.
I discovered a little puddle of water in the corner at the back in the windward side of the tent when I packed up yesterday afternoon after a heavy night of rain.

hi dk 168
was reading through your instructions
no 19 do you zip the front panel in the middle or at the front.
also do you have to zip this on and peg the middle up to the middle section once this is done do you have to remove the panel and then put it on to the front of the tent and then peg to the front of the tent so there is no stress in the zips.
sorry if it sounds confusing the other way I could describe is peg up to the zig remove front panel to the front and then peg from the zig to the front so there is no stress on the zips.
thanks jeff
I always use the front section of the tent for my kitchen set up, and zip the front panel on the middle frame and not the front frame.
I always have the door and front panel in place before I peg the tent down, doing up all the zips as well as making sure all the hooks and eyes are done up.
As advised by the others, I cross-peg the two guys on each side of the front panel on both sides, in order to ease the tension in the zips.
Hope the above makes sense.
