IMy son of 11 has decided that he would like his own tent next to ours this summer so am looking for a cheap pup tent .I dont want to spend too much im not convinced he will stay in there ! The cheaper ones seem to be single skinned are these ok or would you advise i get one with an inner tent ?

Always with an inner. Single skin ones (unless made of hi-tec materials costing megabucks) are suitable only for one use disposable festival tents or play tents. They are cold, barely weatherproof and run with condensation.
Go for something that`s at least a 2-man with double skin and by a decent manufacturer. Yup, he may not use it much this year but he will over the next five or six, I bet!

they look great ! and easy !
Pitch in an instant, and just have four pegs and guys. You have to practice packing them down but, once you have the knack (and it is not too difficult) that is really quick and easy too.
Wish I'd seen these before I just bought the Gelert single skin pop-out tent for my son's birthday!! Still, he'll only use it for the odd night camping with his friends in the height of summer. We'll see how long it lasts then get one of these!!
we bought our daughter a 2 man tent double skin from millets it was about £35 ,she didnt last the night as she heard a noise so now me and o/h use it for the odd night away on our own save taking the big tent or the caravan
