Hello,

I am in the process of looking to buy a two man back packing tent. I have looked at few and discounted a few too.

Basically I am looking for a two man tent, even though it's only more likely to be me and the dog, under £100. No more than 2.5k if possible as the dog can't carry much !!!!

I've already looked at the Raid Shelter, Epsilon 2 and Avior 2 all by Coleman, and have today seen the Vango Banshee.  I trust Vango as I already have two family sized tents, but didn't like the lack of space outside the sleeping compartment for rucksack etc at night. The Coleman Avoir 2 has a fairly good sized compartment for this and a side door so that you don't have to clamber all over you kit to go for that night time call of nature. I don't know if the Coleman name is as trusted as Vango and don't really want to be spending over £100 as my times of solitude are limited due to the 'anklebiters'

Basically I am after some advice on which are the better buys. Something that fits the budget, weight and other spec I'm looking for that won't look out of place on a campsite or pitched half way up a hill over looking a nice tarn.

Any suggestions other than the ones I've mentioned would be great, or if I've already seen 'the one' and not yet bought it please tell me which one it is.

Many thanks

Stu

OOh its beeen a long time since I've shopped for one of these!

Coleman tents are absolutely fine, I ahve seen the epilon and liked the look of it.

As you know, lightest is often best as long as waterproof (I used to give an extra spray before just in case).

I'm rather taken by the idea of these pocket tents http://www.khyam.co.uk/product_tent_search.asp , which just pitch with walking poles / sticks / fences- whatever is handy!
